I think that it will be better for XT to support free open
     source software ( or
     unavoidable
commercial de-facto standards, like Oracle ;-)

Agreed.

On another hand, if somebody on this list will say that this
     particular XQL
repository is what he personally needs ;-) - I think I can
     knock together
some ux-bean which will allow to get nodesets out of this storage with
     something like:

     <xsl:variable name="somenodeset" select="document( '/! xql
     some-query-here' )" />

     Is this the desired functionality?

I'm always unsure here. I am led to believe that for an XSLT based solution
the file must be in memory.
Contra that, Logic says that if the data quantity is sufficient to warrant
use
of a database, its pretty large.

Both sweeping simplicities, but you get my meaning.

The ability to query xml documents is obviously very useful.
My gut feeling is that the queries might be document based,
but magically get translated into database queries if the document is
<vague>big</vague>

thats why I'm unsure.

I posted it to the list as being useful information, no more!

Regards, DaveP
