Thank you so much for your quick responses! I changed the beginning of my
stylesheet to:
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0"
         xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"
         xmlns:xt="http://www.jclark.com/xt"
         extension-element-prefixes="xt"
         lang="en">
<xsl:output method="html"/>
<xsl:template match="/">

and everything worked just great!
